Desert eXtended Range

Range extension,
proven in the desert.

DXR Dynamics builds series-hybrid range-extender systems: a compact Arrowline engine driving an electric generator, so electric vehicles go farther. We develop and test them where it's hardest, in desert racing.

The DXR range extender

In development

DXR-50 Range Extender

A series-hybrid generator set: a engine paired with an electric generator. It never drives the wheels directly. It recharges the battery and supplies electrical power, so the drivetrain stays fully electric.

  • engine: compact, smooth, high power density
  • Integrated electric generator and controls
  • Designed for packaging in off-road and specialty EVs
  • Continuous output: target figures to be published as estimates during testing

Range

Extends EV range well beyond the battery alone, with no charging stops needed in remote terrain.

Simplicity

A series hybrid uses one electric drivetrain. The engine runs at its most efficient speed, independent of wheel speed.

Race-validated

Every DXR system is tested on MOAB under full desert-race load before it goes anywhere else.

The Problem

Why series hybrid for the desert?

Desert racing means hundreds of miles of brutal terrain, extreme heat and no chargers. Pure battery-electric trucks run out of range. Combustion-only trucks give up the instant torque and control of electric drive.

A series hybrid gives you both. Electric motors drive the wheels, and an onboard generator keeps the battery topped up. That's the architecture behind Audi's RS Q e-tron, which won the Dakar Rally in 2024.

DXR Dynamics is building the same idea into a compact Arrowline range extender, and proving it in the toughest races in North America.

Race Program

MOAB #1351

MOAB is our series-hybrid desert race truck and the test platform for DXR range-extension technology. Every mile it races is data that goes back into the product.

Goal: a 500-mile run with no stops.

Build & Custom Engineering

Built by DXR Works

The same shop that builds MOAB takes on select projects, especially hybrid and electric conversions and off-road fabrication.

Hybrid & EV integration

Powertrain packaging, high-voltage layout and controls integration.

Fabrication

Chassis, suspension and structural work for off-road vehicles.

Design & CAD

From 3D model to finished part.

Platforms

Concept designs exploring where DXR's hybrid range-extended drive could go next.

Arrowline powered platforms can run silent on electric power for quiet infil and exfil, then extend range on demand.

Our Team

The DXR crew

Jason Glass leads DXR Dynamics with a crew that handles engineering, CAD, sourcing, media and more.

Jason Glass

Founder

Jason founded DXR Dynamics to build and race hybrid range-extended vehicles, and he leads the build, the engineering and the racing program.

Micheal Bosworth

Team Coordinator

Micheal keeps the whole DXR crew pointed the same direction, routing work between engineering, media and operations and making sure nothing falls through the cracks.

Favorite part: Seeing every part of the team click together on one truck with one goal.

Ro Wankelberg

Powertrain Engineering Lead

Ro owns the engineering behind DXR's Arrowline range extender, from the engine-to-generator coupling and controls to the test plans that prove durability. Ro turns big ideas into specs, build plans and hard data.

Favorite part: Pairing the smooth, compact Arrowline engine with modern electric drive to push a vehicle farther than anyone expects.

Mo Ridley

Lead Vehicle Engineer, MOAB

Mo runs engineering on MOAB, our hybrid desert race truck, turning race-day lessons into specs, drawings and build plans. He tracks every part from the CAD screen to the shop floor so the truck shows up ready to race.

Favorite part: We're designing a hybrid truck to chase a 500-mile off-road run without stopping, and every mile teaches us something we can build into the next version.

Cody Walsh

CAD & Simulation Engineer

Cody builds the 3D models and runs the simulations behind DXR's suspension, steering and hybrid powertrain packaging. He turns ideas into checked, fab-ready drawings before any metal gets cut.

Favorite part: Proving out a design in the model the night before the shop turns it into real parts headed for the desert, all in pursuit of our 500-mile non-stop goal.

Bill Dollarhide

Procurement & Supply Chain Lead

Bill keeps one master parts list for the race truck and the Arrowline generator, covering every part's source, cost, lead time and need-by date. He finds and vets suppliers and flags anything that could slow the build before it does.

Favorite part: We're building a hybrid desert truck with the goal of running 500 miles without a single stop, and every part we pick is a step toward that.

Steve Granger

Head of Go-to-Market & Fundraising

Steve leads DXR Dynamics' market strategy, customer development and fundraising. He maps where our range-extender products fit across commercial and government buyers and builds the plan to get them there.

Favorite part: We're testing real hardware in the hardest desert races on earth, so every claim we make to customers is earned in the dirt first.

Ash Calloway

Head of Marketing & Media

Ash runs DXR Dynamics' brand, content and social channels, turning every weld, test mile and race into stories that build the audience and deliver real value to our partners.

Favorite part: We're building a truck to prove a hybrid can finish where others break, and we're showing every step of it, not just the highlights.

Dax Boyd

Video & Photo Editor

Dax turns raw shop and desert footage into the build Reels, Shorts and YouTube episodes that follow MOAB from bare chassis to race day, cutting every edit to an original soundtrack.

Favorite part: Getting to show a hybrid race truck being built by hand, weld by weld, as it chases a 500-mile non-stop goal.

Dylan Chill

Music Producer

Dylan writes and produces the original, fully licensed music behind DXR Dynamics' videos and reels. He cuts every track to the beat of the edit, so the trucks and the music hit together.

Favorite part: Getting to score a hybrid race truck chasing a 500-mile, no-stop desert run, with 80s rock, hip hop and EDM all in the same garage.

Suzie Hart

Chief of Staff, Founder's Office

Suzie keeps the founder's calendar, travel and logistics running smoothly so the team can stay focused on building. She handles the details behind the scenes, from scheduling to getting the crew where it needs to be on race weekends.

Favorite part: Watching a small team take on the desert with a hybrid truck built to go farther than anyone thinks it can.
